


Youth Ministry

Mission

"Youth Ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community." Renewing the Vision, p. 1

Our Youth participate in discussions, games, and activities that are designed to help them mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ, articulate their moral sense, strengthen their friendships, and bring them to a strong sense of community and justice, within regularly scheduled Youth Group meetings.

They also engage actively in volunteerism through a wide variety of service projects and parish ministries. Special weekend, day, and evening events are also provided to enrich their growth in wisdom, understanding, knowledge, right judgement, courage, deeper faith, and awe of the Lord. We believe that our Youth are the life of the Church. We believe that by meeting their needs and encouraging their gifts, we are changing the world for the better.

Youth-led Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

March 23rd. We're serving soup and bread, and then leading the Stations of the Cross in the Church.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays, February 28th, March 6th, and March 13th. Bring your creative ideas.

News

Tuesday Evening Mass is at a special time this week - 6:30 pm instead of 7:00 pm. Servers and readers, please arrive by 6:15 to prepare.

Eight participants successfully completed THINKfast at St. Peter's this past weekend. Thank you to Deacon Lukas, and to our volunteers - Kathy, Joseph, and Cynthia. Great job, everybody!

Tuesday Youth Group (up to age 15) Our next meeting is February 21st - it's Shrove Tuesday! We're helping the Knights serve Pancake Dinner directly after Tuesday Evening Mass - which is at the special time of 6:30 pm.

Truth Group (High School and Young Adults) - On March 4th, we're making sandwiches for the Drop-In Centre. Bring two loaves of bread, and RSVP to Judith at youth@st-peters.ca to let her know you're coming, so that we know approximately how many to plan for.

Mass Alive Choir – The next practice is on February 26th , 7-9 pm

This meeting normally begins with Mass at 7 pm, followed by games and activities in the Parish Hall until 9 pm. Thank you to our Altar Servers and Readers - you make the difference at Tuesday Evening Mass!

This year’s Truth Group theme is “Lives of the Saints.” February's Saint is St. Margaret of Cortona.

Volunteers

This group provides role modeling, small-group leadership, serves the snack, and helps with clean-up at our Tuesday Youth Group meetings. Members of this group are in high school or older. At least 2-3 people over age 18, and at least 1-2 people age 16-18 are needed at each Tuesday meeting. Contact Judith for more information at youth@st-peters.ca

Mass Alive Choir

Practices normally take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from 7-9 pm. This choir sings at the 9:30 am Mass on the first Sunday of each month.

Check out our CD, "Alive!" It's available for $20.00 from the parish Office.

Mass Alive

9:30 am on the first Sunday of every month.

Youth are especially welcome to volunteer for many other Mass ministries at Mass Alive, as well as for the choir. Training for each ministry will be available. Contact Judith at the office.
